The word fractals refers to a mathematical construct of biological
branching; look at a head of broccoli or a tree for examples of fractals. A
definition I read somewhere was that fractals are "a type of mathematical shape that are infinitely complex. In essence, a fractal is a pattern that repeats forever..." and so do the branching of trees from root to stem, from trunk to branch to leaf. All are infinitely complex and intimately intertwined with humans as they provide us with shade, with food, with oxygen and with beauty.
